Good to know

FumeCare manufactures the range in New Zealand. You may recognise these products by their earlier Calibre names.

Let’s start with what you know

These details are helpful if you have them:

  • The teaching or laboratory work you need it for
  • A photo or approximate size of the available space
  • Whether you are replacing an existing cupboard

Missing something? That’s fine. Call 0800 023 778 or email us and we’ll take it from there.

Use the design differences to build a shortlist

RangeUseful starting pointQuestion to resolve
StudentA shallow-depth bypass design associated with school joinery.Does the available bench and teaching task suit the proposed configuration?
SmoothflowA bypass grille above the sash opening. What working space and services does the laboratory process need?
SashDriveSash position is used to regulate the exhaust fan speed. How will sash use, controls and room ventilation work together?

Separate external size from usable workspace

Student’s standard external dimensions are 1200 mm wide, 620 mm deep and 1210 mm high. Smoothflow and SashDrive are 750 mm deep and 1210 mm high, with standard widths of 1200, 1500 and 1800 mm. Check the usable workspace, installation clearances and exact supplied configuration with us.

The 101 series has separate specifications. Give FumeCare the exact model name or a photograph of the existing identification label when comparing or replacing equipment. Ask for a current drawing for the proposed configuration.

Compare complete systems on the same basis

A useful comparison includes the cupboard, matching extraction arrangement, controls, building connections and installation work. We pair the D250 with Smoothflow and SashDrive and the TD250 with Student. The design team still needs to confirm the fan and duct arrangement for the actual installation.

SashDrive’s control principle can reduce extracted air volume with a lowered sash. Your operating pattern and building services shape the energy assessment. If your main question is operating energy, assemble the usage information in the linked energy-planning guide.

Four questions for a better model discussion

  • What apparatus must fit inside, and what access does the operator need?
  • Which chemicals and processes must be assessed for suitability?
  • What bench, room, service and exhaust-route constraints already exist?
  • How will the cupboard be used during a typical day, including sash position?

For example, a school replacing a shallow-depth unit may begin with Student, while a laboratory needing a different working width may investigate Smoothflow or SashDrive. We’ll assess the process and site before confirming a model. Bring those requirements to FumeCare so the comparison ends with a specific configuration.
